Get your brain comfortable with multitasking and learning to hear odd meters. This class will explore superimposing specific patterns, such as playing in 3 against 2, in musically effective ways. Different time signatures will be discussed, with examples provided in 3/2, 4/3 and 5/4, as well as triplets, paradiddles and rolls. Dynamics, in all senses of the word, will be discussed, from velocity to sensibility to phrasing.
