Concert/Event Producer

**THIS IS A SEASONAL/PART-TIME POSITION.

Overview

Working towards the broad goal of putting on a successful concert, producers truly do it all, from hiring staff to setting up the stage and sound systems and overseeing the load in and load out. The job of Concert and Event Producers requires working knowledge of technical stagecraft, exceptional personnel management skills, and the ability to work well with all the live music industry’s major players.

In most cases, the job begins months before the show, when the concert producer makes contact with the client, artist(s) and their management teams. The producer aims to suss out critical information for the show: additional equipment requirements (like amplifiers, microphones, lights, or instruments); the timetable for the day of the event; and any other pertinent information. The producer puts the plan into action: hiring personnel including stagehands, mix engineers, sound system engineers, and lighting techs; and, if necessary, overseeing the construction of production elements like the stage, sound systems, and lighting plots. Everything needs to be ready for the day of the show, and there’s rarely time to spare.

The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the production of live events and concerts from planning to execution. They will have a deep understanding and working knowledge of mobile stages, live sound, lighting, and power systems. They will work closely with the client, vendors, and production team to ensure the event is executed smoothly and to the highest standard.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of live event production, including budgeting, scheduling, planning, logistics, and execution.

  • Communicate effectively with the client, vendors, and production team to ensure that all requirements are met and exceeded.

  • Select and manage team members to ensure quality service and cost efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies.

  • Oversee the setup and teardown of equipment, including mobile stages, live sound, lighting, and power systems.

  • Ensure that all technical aspects of the production are properly executed, including sound checks, lighting cues, and other technical elements.

  • Manage production schedules and timelines, ensuring that deadlines are met.

  • Supervise and manage a team of production staff, including stagehands, audio and lighting technicians, and other support staff.

  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise during the event, ensuring that they are resolved quickly and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in live event production, with a focus on concert production.

  • Extensive knowledge of mobile stages, live sound, lighting, and power systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and production staff.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot issues.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

  • Commercial drivers license (medical exam only) helpful but not required.

Physical Demands

  • This position requires the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in outdoor environments for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions

  • This position may require working irregular hours, including nights and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the event. The Production Manager may also be required to travel to different event locations.

Office Assistant / Front Desk Associate

As a Front Desk Associate, you are the first point of contact for our company, welcoming guests and greeting people who visit, call, or email our business. Front Desk Associates are responsible for booking appointments, checking in clients, checking out lessons, and maintaining the accuracy and efficacy of the POS system.

Must be available to work evenings and weekends.

Must be outgoing and comfortable in unfamiliar social situations.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities Include…

  • Customer Service:
    • Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive inside the building
    • Use and learn all student and parent names
    • Direct visitors/guests to the appropriate person and/or area
    • Give knowledgeable tours to clients and prospects 
    • Provide basic and accurate information on products and services that we sell and offer
    • Politely and pleasantly answer, screen, and direct incoming calls within the first 2 rings
    • Build relationships and rapport with staff and contractors, customers, students and parents
    • Ensure reception area, lobbies, and lounges are tidy and presentable at the start of your shift and end of the business day
  • Scheduling and Client Accounts
    • Support company operations by maintaining the accuracy and efficacy of the calendar/POS system
    • Receive payments and maintain the accuracy and efficacy of client billing in accordance with our policies
    • Enforce lesson, studio, and event rental policies
  • Inventory and Supplies
    • Restock office, studios, lesson rooms and kitchen supplies as needed
  • Administration
    • Receive and distribute daily deliveries 
    • Report any instances of concerning or inappropriate behavior from staff/instructors or clients to management
    • Maintain building security by following safety and alarm procedures and controlling access to spaces during publicized hours and special events

Private Music Teacher

Do you love music and working with kids?

Stages Music Arts is looking for passionate musicians to help kids discover the thrill of playing an instrument.

Lessons are 1-on-1 and small group classes.

Requirements and expectations of the job include:

  • Authentic passion for music and teaching
  • Exceptional communication skills (email, phone and text)
  • Student retention and relationship building skills
  • Previous experience teaching private music lessons to kids and adults
  • Consistency of availability
  • Ability to provide high quality music lessons
  • Promote and participate in events such as recitals, open mics, and instructor concerts
  • Adaptable to the needs of each student

Qualifications and training required:

Although there are no qualifications required across the board for private music tutors, you will need to demonstrate your knowledge of music. In particular, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of – and aptitude for playing – the instrument(s) you will be teaching.

You will also need to show that you can teach and you are good with kids. We prioritize teachers who are “the right fit” for our culture over those who are virtuoso instrumentalists.

Private music teachers are self-employed and work on a contractual basis with our organization. It may take time to build up a client base and become fully established.

Pay Rate and hours and room for growth:

Pay for instructors varies depending on experience and qualifications and ranges between $22-33/hr. Because many people take music lessons as a hobby in their spare time, openings are typically in the evenings and on weekends. It is possible to teach in addition to taking classes or working around other work and gig commitments.

Audio Recording and Live Production Intern

Job Overview

Stages Music Arts is the area’s premiere music school and recording studio. We are looking for a talented Audio Recording and Live Production Intern professional to assist with our recording studios, performance hall and outdoor patio stage. Responsibilities for Audio Recording and Live Production Intern

  • Work with a team of professional audio recording, video and live sound engineers to set up, run and tear down recording sessions and live sound and video productions.
  • Learn the basics of setup and breakdown for recording sessions – running and properly wrapping cables, setting up microphones and stands, setting up headphone systems.
  • Learn the basics of setup and breakdown for live stage events – running cables, setting up microphones and stands, setting up monitor systems.
  • On the mixing console, learn the basics of signal flow, patchbay/patching, types of microphones, microphone patterns, eq, effects, 
  • On the video side, learn the basics of setting up cameras and tripods, cabling, audio through the Dante system, streaming, switching, camera positioning, lighting and camera operation.
  • Setup as needed for events – crowd control, audio/video
  • Setup as needed for band classes – microphones, monitors, backline
  • Sit in on professional recording and video sessions, observe the flow of accomplished producers, engineers and musicians.

Qualifications for Audio Recording and Live Production Intern

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in recording, music, sound or related field.
  • Familiar with relevant DAW platforms – Pro Tools primarily, but also Ableton Live, Garage Band/Logic Pro, Reaper, Wavelab mastering software.  Experience in all is not necessary.
  • Comfortable working with Mac computers and accessories.

About This Position:

We are looking for someone who can commit roughly between 10-20 hours per week across multiple days/evenings, and for at least for 2 months duration, preferably 3-5 months. The position must be in-person to capture happenings in and around the facility. Ideally, applicants are completing this internship in exchange for college credit.
