Stages Music Arts is thrilled to present an evening of contemporary folk music with a mischeivious edge, as Wicked Sycamore takes the stage in the Julian S. Smith Performance Hall in celebration of the release of their new album "If Not Now" Wicked Sycamore is an all-female trio hailing from the Baltimore/DC area, consisting of Juliette Bell on guitar, Lainie Gray on mandolin, and Madeline Waters on cello. Their sound is grounded in traditional roots music but branches out into Americana, bluegrass, funk, and jazz. Their original music ranges from fun and light-hearted sing-alongs to deep, introspective tunes for the ages. They combine intricate vocal harmonies with thoughtful arrangement, mood shifts, and story-telling. They are proud to add their voices as both female musicians and songwriters to the modern music landscape. Join Stages instructor Taso Kotsos for "Drums in Motion" - an energizing workshop designed to elevate your drumming skills. During their regular lessons, students will work with their instructors to record themselves playing along to drum-less versions of well-known songs. Then, at the workshop, they’ll gather in the studio control room to listen to, discuss, and give feedback on their prerecorded performances. A drum set will also be set up in the studio for demonstrations, allowing for additional insights and hands-on learning. Stages' Open Mic Night is now on a new night with a new host - Baltimore's electrifying entertainer - Tom Starr. Now on the second Thursday of every other month, Open Mic is an opportunity for you to share your talents with a supportive audience and network with other up-and-coming musicians in our beautiful Julian S. Smith Performance Hall. Solo artists, small groups & full bands welcome Grand piano, drumset, and full backline available Pre-recorded audio (backing tracks, etc) is not permitted Vocalists must have an accompanist No spoken word 1-2 songs per artist, depending on number of performers Due to limited seating, performers and guests must RSVP in advance.
