Benefits of Recording for Musicians

Recording offers numerous advantages for students at all stages of their musical development:

  • Documentation of Progress: Regular recording sessions provide a tangible record of growth and improvement over time.
  • Portfolio Development: Students can build a professional portfolio of recordings and videos to showcase their talents for auditions, college applications, or industry opportunities.
  • Creative Exploration: Recording original songs or unique covers allows students to experiment with sound, arrangement, and production techniques.
  • Performance Review: Video recitals or recording live performances help students analyze and improve their stage presence and musicianship.
  • Audition Videos: Create high-quality audition videos to submit to schools, programs, or competitions, showcasing your best work in a professional format.
  • Social Media Content: Create high-quality videos for YouTube or other social media platforms to build an online presence and share your musical journey with a broader audience.
  • Band Collaboration: Recording sessions can strengthen teamwork and collaboration within bands, leading to more cohesive performances.

Eligibility & Accrual Conditions

  • Only students enrolled in a weekly program (lessons, band program, or EMP classes) are eligible to accrue studio time.
  • Accrual is uniform regardless of the number of contracts/subscriptions a student has or whether they take 30, 45, or 60-minute weekly lessons.
  • Full months of tuition payments are required to earn accrual. Partial payments or prorated tuition do not count, but discounted full-tuition payments do.
  • Accrual will be tracked through Opus1 invoices.

Accrual Expiry and Rollover

  • Accrual will expire 12 months after a student is no longer an active Stages Academy member.
  • Accrual is not applicable during months when lessons are paused (e.g., summer break). Accrual resumes upon full tuition payment when lessons restart.

Accrual Usage and Limitations

  • Students may pool their accrued time with other Academy Members (e.g., bandmates) for a maximum of 10 hours per year. For example, a band with five members can pool up to 2 hours each in a calendar year.
  • Accrual is non-transferable between students.
  • There is no maximum cap on accrual; students can accumulate time indefinitely, allowing long-term members to accrue significant studio time.
  • Accrued time may not be applied to other services such as lessons, event rentals, or band tuition.
  • Any additional time required beyond accrued hours will be billed at our standard studio rate.
  • Additional services, such as piano rentals or hiring instructors to produce/perform, are available at an additional cost.
  • Accrued time cannot be redeemed or exchanged for monetary credit.
  • Stages Music Arts reserves the right to change or alter any of the terms and conditions of this benefit at any time.

Instructor Assistance

  • Teachers may be hired for an additional fee to provide guidance, help with arrangements and generally assist and support the recording process.
  • Having a teacher on hand for your session can make the musicians more comfortable and enhance the quality of the final product, enhancing the learning experience and helping produce memories that last a lifetime.

Beginners Welcome

Whether you are just starting out or are more advanced in your musical journey, you can accomplish something meaningful in the studio. You do not need to be an expert to create something special—every student has the potential to produce work that reflects their unique growth and creativity.

In conclusion, the Recording Studio Accrual Benefit is an exciting opportunity for Stages Music Arts students to enhance their learning experience by making professional studio services more accessible. We encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity to document their progress, explore creative projects, and share their musical journey with the world.
