Stages Presents: Joel Harrison

Joel Harrison has “created a new blueprint for jazz” (New Orleans Times-Picayune). Read on to learn more about this multi-talented artist ahead of his concert and MasterClass, “Big Tent Americana”, here at Stages on May 2nd.

Joel Harrison is a guitarist, composer, arranger, lyricist, vocalist, writer, and educator, proving his well-rounded expertise through each discipline. He founded the Alternative Guitar Summit in 2011, an annual festival and creative hub for guitar players that has featured Bill Frisell, Julian Lage, Pat Metheny, and several other acclaimed guitarists. 

Harrison’s original music bends the genres of jazz, classical, rock, and country, featuring David Binney and Norah Jones as collaborators.  He has also composed for films including Traffic Stop and Southern Comfort.
