Nelly’s Echo’s mission is to make music that is “the soundtrack to your life”. Read on to learn more about this unique artist ahead of his performance here at Stages on April 6th.
Nelson Emokpae, known on stage as Nelly’s Echo, is a Baltimore-based artist that defies genres. He refers to music as a “two-way street” and “a give and a take”, explaining that “‘Nelly’ refers to me, the musician, creating the ambience and ‘Echo’ refers to the audience’s appreciation of that ambience,”.
Nelly’s Echo performs his original song, “Mr. Leroy”, in Studio B.
In addition to being a standout contestant of Season 3 of NBC’s “The Voice”, Nelly’s Echo reached #7 on the iTunes R&B charts with his cover of the Bill Withers Classic, “Ain’t No Sunshine”. He has shared the stage with artists including Sean Kingston, Boyz II Men, Travis McCoy, and Trombone Shorty.
