April Student Spotlight: Jack Barrett

Jack Barrett is a dedicated student of Evan Cooper who studies both piano and guitar and has a tremendous sense of humor. Jack is always very involved at Stages – showcasing his talents in recitals every time he gets the chance. He even recently played a private concert for his friends and family in Stages’ Julian S. Smith Performance Hall. Congrats to Jack on being selected for this honor and don’t ever stop pursuing your musical dreams! Read on to learn more about Jack…

What do you study and why did you pick that instrument?

I study piano and guitar. I chose the piano because my favorite musician is Jeremiah Fraites. He is the piano player in The Lumineers.

Who is your teacher and what do you love about them?

Mr. Evan Cooper. I like that he is funny, kind, and patient. He also helps me write songs.

What kind of music do like to listen to or play? Recent favorite artist?

My favorite artists are the Lumineers, Ed Sheeran, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

What’s your favorite thing about Stages or do you have a favorite Stages memory?

My favorite thing about Stages is the Summer Rock Band Camp. My favorite memory is when I did a stage dive after the Rock Band Camp performance last summer.

What are your musical goals? What is one of your non-music related goals?

My current musical goal is to get through an entire song without messing up. My long-term musical goal is to be a songwriter. My non-music related goal is to be the lead in a play.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself not related to music?

I do pizza reviews on the internet.

Congratulations Jack for being selected for Stages Student Spotlight!
